Marvel releasing yet another Edge of Spider-Verse series next year

David Brooke for AIPT:

Marvel Comics has announced a new Edge of Spider-Verse miniseries for February featuring brand new iterations of Spider-Man and exciting creative teams. They’ll also be reacquainting you with old favorites.

Marvel, please, for the love of god, enough with the Spider-Verse.

Comics lately are so confusing. Why does Nightcrawler have to be Spider-Man? Can he just be, you know, Nightcrawler?

New Superman series coming in February

Rich Johnston for Bleeding Cool:

It was revealed at New York Comic Con today that a brand-new Superman ongoing monthly series is launching in February 2023 from Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths writer Joshua Williamson and Naomi artist and co-creator Jamal Campbell.

I’ve never been much of a Superman fan but the creative team on this has me excited. I’ve had good luck jumping on books right after a big crossover event.

DC has a Jim Lee problem

I wish more than anything that DC would move on from using art drawn by Jim Lee to promote new events, initiatives, characters, or redesigns.

I want to be clear: Jim Lee is a legend, no question. However, that’s the reason that announcing the company’s relaunches and reboots over and over again with his art has hampered their ability to break out the antiquated shell that’s enveloped the company for so many years.

There’s a lot of baggage there that I don’t think they realize they’re carrying around with them by continuing to do this.
